The Shield's Final Act Starts Tonight

It's be a long time coming but The Final Season of The Shield starts tonight and I for one can't wait. I don't know to much about this season, FX has been very hush hush, and that's hard to do considering the last episode was filmed last November. Because of the writer strike we had to wait another 9 months just to see this season. I am going to do a little overview of the seasons and then give a few predictions on this final season. Do not read the overview if you have never seen the show and plan to watch it sometime because their will be spoilers.

Season 1:
Vic Kill's Terry becuase Terry was planing on ratting on the Strike Team and their dirty deals.
Vic and Shane get away with killing another cop, Ronnie and Lem have

Season 2:
The Strike Team steals money from the Armenian Mob (Armenian Money Train)

Season 3:
The Strike Team tries to stay of the radar as being the ones who stole from the Money Train
Lem gets paranoid and scared so he burns almost all the money
The Strike Teams breaks up

Season 4:
Antwon Mitchell Shows up
New Captian has decided to put some faith in Vic
Shane gets in deep with Antwon
Strike Team reforms to help get Shane out of trouble

Season 5:
Lt. Kavanaugh from IAD opens a case on Vic and his Strike Team
Vic is back on the radar for the death of Terry
Vic is also being pushed into early retirement
Lem gets picked up by IAD for heroin and is asked to turn on his team
Lem doesn't turn, he tells his guys he is wired, Strike Team does every thing they can to keep Lem out of prison
Lem gets offered a deal for 5 years in prison and wants to take it
The Strike team here's that Lem takes a deal and thinks Lem is turning on them
Shane meets up with Lem and kills him, thinking he is saving him and the rest of the team
Vic plans to kill who ever killed Lem, not knowing it's Shane who did it

Season 6:
Shane finds out that Lem was never going to turn on him, so he killed his best friend for no reason
Vic finds out that Shane killed Lem, Shane makes a list of all the shit they have done just incase
Shane gets into business with Armenians, tells them about Vic and the money train not knowing it would be bad
Shane tries to protect Vic and his family, Vic thinks he's trying to hurth them
Vic finds leverage on some higher ups which could help save his job

So season 7 starts in about 9 hours, I have to work so I will miss it but thank God for my DVR. Here is a small preview of season 7:

My predictions. I don't think anybody will die, Vic is going to Mexico I can just see that happening. I think Vic's end will be alone and drunk in Mexico. I had always thought Ronnie was undercover, he doesn't say much and is way to clean for somebody who is a dirty cop. But I think he is just smart and in the end will look out for himself since he knows he can't trust Vic and Shane.
Everything else I will learn in the coming weeks, I bet I am wrong on every prediction, I hope I am. We will soon find out though. It's taken a while but the night is finally here and I am pumped.

Max Payne The Movie

Found this today, bit of an update and a much better version of the trailer I saw a few months back.

Not to sure what the bird things are. I played both Max Payne 1 and 2 and never once did I see a guy with wings. I think they are called Valkier (sp) and from what I remember Valkier is a really fucked up drug, not a dude with wings. But I could be wrong, I just hope this movie is good, would be nice to see a movie based off a video game that is actually good. Guess their is still hope for Metal Gear Solid.

New possibilities for Guitar Hero World Tour...

In a post made last week on the website of Game centric cable channel G4, a rumor was hinted that there would be an additional instrament controller that had so far not been announced. Of course even a hint such as this sends the internet message boards alight with speculation as to what exactly it might be. I have decieded to add fuel to the fire by offering a few of my ideas on what the new controller might be.

Recorder Hero - Relive third grade music class. Play all the hits such as Yankee doodle dandy with the new recorder controller!

Headbang Hero - A motion sensative wig lets you live out all your 80's thrash metal fantasies!

Bongo Hero - Play the bongos to terrible covers of all your favorite dentist office tunes such as Willie Nelson's "On the road Again." and The Supremes' "You Cant Hurry Love"! ...Wait forget this one. Nintendo already lamed up this idea in Donkey konga.

PVC tube Hero - Blue Man Group covers?!?

Spoon Hero - Tell all your friends to "Come together while you can. Save me..." from having to play the spoons in GHWT. (Soundgarden reference for all those of you that didnt get it)

Nose-whistle Hero - Nothing witty to say about this. the term "Nosewhistle" is funny enough.

Beets Hero - Bang on trashcans or drum on streetlights! Its Beets Hero!

Tin Can in a Echo-ey Room Hero - Now you can reproduce the same drum sounds that Lars Ulrich did on Metallica's St. Anger album

And of course, if any of these idea's come to be reality (not gunna happen, but i think i would shit a pickle if any of em did), Activision would of course be sued by some company that we never heard of that will claim Activision stole the technology to make the controller. The suit will get dropped and the unknown company's 15 minutes of fame will be over.

New Releases of 08/26/08

So this week I will try to keep it short and sweet. The Shield Season 6 came out today and that will be my main focus. Sometime within the next week I will be doing something on the entire series, dunno what yet, but it's needed as the 7th and final season starts next Tuesday. A show as incredible as this deserves something from somebody like myself who is blown away by each season.

The Shield - The Complete Sixth Season:

Continuing directly after season 5, Vic and the Strike Team are distraught over Lem's death. Shane has been overcome by guilt and becomes reckless and suicidal. Kavanaugh refuses to let the case die and resorts to planting evidence and coercing witnesses to lie about the Strike Team. Dutch and Claudette begin to suspect his integrity. Vic learns from Claudette that the Chief plans to force him into early retirement — and vows to wreak bloody vengeance on Lem's killer before losing his badge. Claudette learns that the Barn could be shut down if no improvements are made by the time quarterly crime statistics are released.

The 6th season of The Shield was a great season, not as great as season 5, but when you come off such an incredible season and quite possibly one of the best season finalies I have even seen on TV, it's hard to live up to such hype (ask all the fans of heroes). This season was meant to be the last but Shawn Ryan (creator) thought he could add more to the story. It's really hard not to go into detail about this show, or this season. Forest Whitaker is back for 2 episodes as Lt. Kavanaugh, putting Lem's (Kenny Johnson) death on Vic (Michael Chiklis). Forest Whitaker is great in the role of Kavanaugh. He went from being the guy who wants Vic in jail for the death of Terry Crowley (long story) and being very good at what he does, to planting evidence in Vic's apartment which would lead to him being arrested for Lem's murder. He does come clean about it before anything happens to Vic but it just shows that Vic is the type of guy who can turn anybody dirty. "I planted evidence on a guilty man" my favorite line of Whitaker, because it's so true. Vic ultimatley finds out that Shane, his best friend, was the one who killed Lem, which we knew would happen I mean Vic may be dirty but he's a damn good cop and would have figured it out soon enough. With Vic knowing sets up for the 7th and final season witch I will go into more detail in my blogs about the shield later this week.

Final verdict? TV shows are hard, to give a rating to but I will say that this show to me is the best show on all of TV and I don't know if I will ever see something as good as The Shield. So I am going to give this a... buy/rent. Why? This show needs to be seen and you need to start from the beginning. So rent the first season to see if the shows is for you, I mean you may be crazy and think it's terrible. But if you love the shield and have season 1-5 then you need to buy this dvd and throw in you collection next to the rest. And sometime next year pick up season 7 and have the entire series, and brag to all your friends how it is to be awesome, I will be.

Next Week The Office Season 4

What to do with your PS3 after you beat MGS4….

So, you own an Xbox 360 and you bought a PS3 just to play Metal Gear Solid 4. Chances are if this is true, you’ve most likely beaten the game. Now that you have already seen the final adventure (or so they say) of Solid Snake, what are you gunna do with that beautiful and expensive piece of hardware now? You might feel like you wasted your money on it. Toss those fears aside. The following is a top 10 list of ideas for what you can do with your PS3 until the next big exclusive comes around…

10. PS2 games?
If your PS3 can do it. That’s pretty much all I did for the first 2 months after I got mine. Motorstorm did nothing for me.

9. Baseball Fan?
Play MLB 08 The Show. 2k sucks harder this year than it did last year.

8. Defrost frozen meats.
Get your frozen chicken and burger patties ready for the grill in seconds! This thing throws off so much heat that you could probably even do some grilling on the exhaust port on the back side. (Disclaimer: Doing this will probably void your warranty.)

7. Home…
Yeah, log online and connect with others on PlayStation Home. Ok, so its still not out yet. Instead, go online and read about how Sony claims this is going to be fun and not totally lame. I’m sure I’ll at least check it out when they finally end up releasing it though. Maybe I'll be wrong? Probably not.

6. Browse the Internet.
No…Don’t do this. Use your pc.

5. Look up information on Africa.
Not the continent, the game, Afrika. Oohhh it has a ‘K’ in it, see what they did there? This game has been referred to as the spiritual successor to Pokemon Snap. I didn’t realize we needed a successor to that one. On Wikipedia, it’s listed as being in the Safari simulation genre. I would venture to say it’s the only game in that genre. Sony claims this will be fun too. Does anyone really care?

4. DVD’s....no! Blu-ray movies…
Why not use it as a blu-ray player? If you are hooked up to a HDTV you have no excuse. The difference in overall quality is huge. Now that prices are starting to come down slowly, and selection is getting better, this should be done by every PS3 owner ….Seriously…go….buy some blu-ray movies.

3. Play every cross platform game (PS3 and Xbox 360) on it that you are interested in that doesn't feature online gameplay. *1
At least you won’t get the red ring 'o death out of your PS3. The only reason to get a game that is cross platform for the Xbox, instead of the PS3, is Xbox Live. As fantastic as the PS3 is, its online service is certainly lacking in comparison to Live. Remember, the best things in life obviously aren’t free when it comes to the world of gaming….

2. Download the Metal Gear Database on the Playstation store.
It’s free, its essential to understanding some of the more complex storylines in the series, and its long enough (that’s what she said) to keep you busy until something else comes out (Star Wars the Force Unleashed?).

1. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.
While PS3 exclusive titles may be few and far between, this is one that should be played by everyone. Uncharted was one of the most entertaining games to come out last year, and while it may be short; it was definitely an experience to remember. Incredible story, characters, and visuals come together with some of the best videogame voice work ever recorded to make this game a must play for all PS3 owners. If you own a PS3 and you haven’t played this yet, you deserve to be thrown down a flight of stairs…

*1 I am by no means a Playstion fanboy. I own all three systems and enjoy all three equally. I just don’t appreciate when hardware doesn’t work. In short, I don’t trust my Xbox 360 enough to use it for more than I have to.

DVD/Blu-Ray Roundup 08/19/08

This is the first edition of the many editions to come of the DVD/Blu-Ray Roundup, and yes I am thinking of a better name. Here I will give some reviews of the newest releases on, well you guessed it, DVD and Blu-Ray. I wont get to lengthy on them just a simple what I liked and didn't like then rate them as Pick Up, Rent, or Skip. So without wasting to much more time, I give you:

DVD/Blu-Ray Roundup [E1] 08/19/08

This week I will be reviewing Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Street Kings, both reviews will be based on the Blu-Ray versions.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Set after the events in 'Terminator 2' Sarah Connor and her son John, trying to stay under-the-radar from the government as they plot to destroy the computer network Skynet in hopes of preventing Armageddon.

When this show was first announced, I had a good laugh thinking for damn sure that this show would suck balls, and then it aired in January. Now I love the Terminator series, I even tolerate the 3rd movie, so I had to give it a small shot... well that and 24 wasn't on this season so I needed something to watch. So enough with the excuses. Fact is this show is pretty damn good and took me by surprise as being a decent show. Now some of you will be happy t
o learn it completely ignores Terminator 3 which is good because although I could stand it it wasn't as good as the first two and I am in the minority for even enjoying it just a little bit. With that said it has 2 very hot chicks in it, Lena Headey (300) and Summer Glau(The 4400, Firefly). And some of you might remember Thomas Dekker (John Connor) who played Clair's weird friend from the first season of Heroes. Also on the show near the end of the season, Brian Austin Green. Green plays Derek Reese, Kyle Reese's brother, he does a good job, and the one thing I like about his character is we get to see some future...flashbacks (make sense of that). The show has some pretty decent special effects, not great, but decent for a show like this. The one problem I had was in the pilot episode Summer Glau, who plays the Terminator on the Connors side, acted very human like when she first met John. I'm sure this was to throw off the viewer so we couldn't guess she was a Terminator but it just seemed a little odd when the second episode aired and she was acting all robot like. There's a few other small things here and there that I wont go into because it's really not a big deal. So for the most part Fox has picked up a pretty solid show, which I can only hope goes past a 2nd season. Thomas Dekker, Brian Austin Green, Lena Headey, Summer Glau

Now for the rating. I am going to have to give this a rent. Not that it's not worth owning, I just don't see the point in owning it now. When the series ends, or knowing Fox gets canceled, then I think any fan of the show or even Terminator alone might want to have this in their collection. Oh and as a Blu-Ray disc, the picture was very sharp, but aren't they always?

I didn't have a chance to watch the extras so I will en
d this review with the list of features.

Features:

  • "Creating the Chronicles" featurette - an all-encompassing look at the production process involved with every aspect of bringing Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles to television.
  • Commentaries - includes executive producers Josh Freidman & John Wirth, cast members Summer Glau & Thomas Dekker, and more.
  • Terminated Scenes (i.e. deleted scenes)
  • Gag Reel
  • Cast Audition Tapes - includes Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker, and Richard T. Jones
  • Storyboard Animatic - featuring the storyboard sequence of the school session where Cromartie attacks and John narrowly escapes
  • Summer Glau Dance Rehearsal
  • Extended Director's Cut of Episode The Demon Hand

Street Kings:

Tom Ludlow (Keanu Reeves) is a veteran LAPD cop who finds life difficult to navigate after the death of his wife. When evidence implicates him in the execution of a fellow officer, he is forced to go up against the cop culture he's been a part of his entire career, ultimately leading him to question the loyalties of everyone around him.

When I first saw the trailer for this back in March I thought this movie looked like it had potential but also thought it could end up being Training Day 3 (Harsh Times being Training Day 2). So I was a little skeptical. But I will say I was blown away by this movie. Keanu Reeves did something new, he acted... kind of. I really didn't seem to noticed if he was doing a bad job at acting because this movie had me sucked in until the end. Forest Whitaker did an awesome job, as usual. I don't know what it is about this guy but he seems to make movies great, even if they are just God awful (see Vantage Point). I am sure after a second viewing I will have some things that I didn't like about this movie but as of now I can't think of anything, I just thought it was a hell of a movie.

Keanu Reeves as Tom Ludlow

For Street Kings I am going to give it a rent. Now I personally am going to buy it but I have to think of the people reading this who just want to watch a movie and buy the classics. I enjoyed it enough to know it will watch this at least once a year. But for the average movie watcher I say rent it, and enjoy it.

Next week I will be reviewing The Shield season 6 (Bough FUCKING time) and more.

See You Next Week

Stuck in my head....

I love Rock Band!

I have a grand total of 2 games for my Xbox 360 currently, and Rock Band is one of them. A few weeks ago, in the weekly DLC update, 2 shinedown songs were released, "Devour", and a never before released song called "Junkies For Fame". Being a fan of Shinedown, I decieded I needed to download this never released song. Ever since I did, I cant get the damn thing out of my head. So if you haven't heard it yet here it is...

It has begun....

Welcome to our blog!

2 Crude Doods will be a collaborative effort between me and my partner in crime Nate. Here you will find a collection of all things that we find fun and funny, and most likely childish and stupid. We will post our thoughts on all things entertainment (games, tv, movies, music), but other things like current events may pop up from time to time.

In the future, we hope to post some video of our own, to share with the world, the stupid things that happen when we sit down with an online pc game. Our only hope is that someone out there finds this stuff as funny as we do.

Keep checking back with us as we work to post more content!
